Use and Care of Cycling Tights

Things to Pay Attention to in the Use and Maintenance of Cycling Tights

Cycling tights are produced using special fabrics with high elastane to maximize your performance and provide you with comfort on the saddle.

The designs of the products have dimensions and technical molds suitable for the cyclist anatomy.

The products we offer aim to increase your performance during your rides with different pad structures and features.

Things to Pay Attention to in the Use and Maintenance of Cycling Tights

-Avoid hard surfaces, Sora Cycling cycling tights products are produced to provide maximum performance on the bike. High elastane fabrics have 20 times finer weaves than normal fabrics. Thanks to this knitting, its flexibility and resistance abilities are high.

Of course, there will be breaks during your ride, but since cycling tights are produced using special fabrics for comfort and maximum performance on the saddle, they are more delicate than the clothes you use in daily life. Please note that these products are designed for use only in cycling.

When you come into contact with a hard/sandpaper-like surface, some of the weaves on the surface of the fabric will be damaged, and this is how the deformation process begins.

For example;
You sat on a bench to rest, there were small splinters on the bench and you didn't notice. (This situation is an example, it can be exemplified in pavement, dry grass or soil surface.)

Let's assume that this surface coincides with the tights pad area where you are in most contact with the saddle, a few threads from the thin knits broke and received damage that was too small to be seen with the naked eye.

You started riding your bike. Since the damaged surface is in the pad area, these threads will begin to unravel when the fabric and the saddle come into contact with each other and over time, a rough surface will form on the fabric of your tights.

Since cycling tights are made for use during cycling, we recommend that you be more meticulous than usual during times other than your training and races.

-Choose the size correctly, if you are wearing very tight tights, the wear rate will be high, the fabric will be stretched and will be exposed to more resistance than normal. For this reason, the tights fabric and seams will be deformed in areas that are too tight.

Strap lengths should be suitable for you; straps that are tighter than normal will put pressure on the stitches and over time, the stitches will open.

-Correct washing is very important, we recommend that you wash your cycling tights alone or together in the mesh. Hard surfaces on other clothes may damage your tights due to high heat and acceleration during washing.

Washing on a short program at 30 degrees will be sufficient. Do not use high speed squeezing.

Never use powder detergent because powder detergents harden the fabrics and make them lose their properties.

Be sure to wash your tights after each use.

Do not use iron.

-Wearing them before they are completely dry will damage the pads. Cycling tights pads are high-tech products with special sponges and materials.

When you wear it before it dries, the moisture and liquids remaining in the pad will cause the sponge to lose its properties over time and then deteriorate the initial form of the pad.

Dryers are perfect for fast drying, but they are definitely harmful to your tights. The fabric and pads of tights rotating in the drum at high temperatures will lose their properties.

In order to use the pads for their maximum life, be sure to wait for them to dry or do not use the same pair of tights on consecutive days.

Choosing the Right Size for Cycling Tights

-Choosing the right size is important, please check our size charts. It is up-to-date and minimizes the margin of error.

One of the most common mistakes when choosing a size is to think that it will be the same size as other products you use.

Size charts have been created because all products have different designs and sizes. Each manufacturer creates its own mold and design, and these measurements are unique.

As we stated in the size charts , hip size is the determining measure for cycling tights products. After finding your size using your hip measurement, you can understand how your cycling tights will look on you by checking other measurements.

For example;

"If your hip measurement is 94cm, you are at the upper limit for size Medium.

This will require you to make a choice for the intermediate size. (valid for all sizes at lower and upper limits)

A user with the above hip measurement can use Medium size and Large size tights. However, the Medium size will hug your body in a fit way, while the Large size will be comfortable. At this point, what needs to be decided is whether the user's hip size will become thinner or thicker in the future. (weight gain or weight loss)

If you will stay in a fixed size and want the tights to look more fitting on you, choose the lower size. "

The straps keep the tights in the correct position. If you are short and had to buy tights in a large size for your hips, the straps will stay long for you. Long straps mean the tights won't stay where they should. (or vice versa) The Air Knit hanging fabrics we use have sufficient flexibility and resistance. We design the tights we produce in the most accurate measurements. If the hangers are not suitable for you, contact us and we will evaluate what can be done about the situation.

Inner leg length, you found your size and check your inner leg length. The best way to make this measurement is to sit on a flat surface and measure from the exact middle point where the pad will be positioned to the measurement in the table. If the size is large but your leg length is too short for it, don't worry about it, the tights fabrics I use have high flexibility and vitality in terms of width and length. You can allow tolerance of -3/+3 cm. You can adjust this distance with the leg bands after wearing the tights.

New Gummy Tapes, after taking your hip measurement correctly, you can check whether it suits you by measuring the position of the tapes in the size you found. The measurements of the bands are recorded as information in the size charts with optimum flexibility. An unworn band is smaller than the measurement in the size chart. The bands will give their full performance when stretched.

When you do not choose the right size, you may think that the pad is in the wrong place because cycling tights pads are positioned in different sizes depending on the size. If you choose a size smaller than it should be, the pad will be forward or behind, in which case the Gel or Poron92 on the pad will not be able to provide the necessary support to your hip bones.

Manta pads may be a good choice to prevent this situation. (It has equal density on the entire surface and promises high comfort.)

How to Wear Cycling Tights?

-You can think of cycling tights as underwear with designs created by the combination of advanced textile knowledge and cycling culture. You should not wear any extra layers over or inside it. The different layers you wear will prevent the pads from fulfilling their functions, and the things you wear over them will make it difficult for you to contact the saddle, causing the pad position to change and will not provide the comfort that the tights are for.

-The positioning of the bands is important, adjust the New Gummy specially padded leg bands to the correct position immediately after wearing them. The correct position for short tights is usually 4 cm to 6 cm above your kneecap. Center connecting seams should center the legs. Thanks to this position, the pad support of your tights will show its full function.

Having the ankle straps in the wrong place is the biggest factor that can cause you to lose comfort or become completely uncomfortable.

Due to incorrect positioning;
* When the bands are above or behind the kneecap, they will disturb you while pedaling.
* The inner length of the tights can be positioned in the desired area thanks to the flexibility of the fabric, but if it is lower, it means that the tights will be pulled down and the pad changes its position.
* If it is higher than necessary, it will cause the fabric to compress too much and the pad to twist upwards, which will create a jam under your saddle.

Before strapping, position your cycling tights exactly where they should be on your waist. In this way, the straps will be in the correct position at the level of your shoulders and you will not need to adjust them again.

3/4 tights and longs are different from short tights. Blizzard and 3/4 Pro Cycling tights designs are designed to relieve movement in the joints. The positions of the leg bands and long tights ends will ensure that the seam lines are in the correct area.
